DejaFood is a personal meal memory app that helps you log, remember, and revisit your dining experiences. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.
We believe your food memories are personal. We collect only what is necessary to make the app work and never sell your data.
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name or username. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from those providers.
Meal and dining data
When you log a meal, we store the restaurant or place name, your sentiment rating, dish names, star ratings, dish categories, notes, photos, and the date and time of your visit. This data is stored in your account and is only visible to you.
Profile information
You may optionally provide a display name, username, avatar photo, and cuisine preferences.
Want to Try list
Places you save to your Want to Try list, including any notes you add about them.
Location
With your permission, we use your device location to help find nearby restaurants when you are logging a meal. We do not continuously track your location and do not store precise GPS coordinates beyond what is needed to associate a meal with a general area.
Photos
With your permission, we access your photo library so you can attach photos to your meal logs. We also use your camera so you can take photos directly within the app. Photos you attach are uploaded to secure cloud storage and associated with your account.
Usage analytics
We collect anonymized, aggregate usage data to understand how the app is being used. This includes events such as when the app is opened, when a meal is logged, or when features are used. This data is not linked to your identity and contains no personal information.
Device information
We collect basic information about your device platform (iOS) and app version for debugging and compatibility purposes.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We share limited data only with the following service providers who help us operate the app:
Supabase
We use Supabase to store your account data, meal logs, and photos. Supabase provides our database, authentication, and cloud storage infrastructure. Data is stored in the United States.
Apple Maps Server API
When you search for a restaurant or place, your search query and approximate location are sent to Apple Maps to retrieve place suggestions. This is subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, authentication is handled by those providers. We receive only your name and email address from them.
We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security policies ensuring that only you can access your own data. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.
Photos are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls. Meal data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with strict access controls.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all of your data — including meals, dishes, photos, place history, and profile information — is permanently deleted from our systems.
Access your data
You can view all your meal logs, places, and profile information directly within the app.
Export your data
You can export your data at any time from the Profile tab using the Export My Data option.
Delete your account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Profile tab. This action is immediate and irreversible.
Revoke permissions
You can revoke location or photo access at any time through your iPhone Settings. Revoking location access means the app cannot suggest nearby places. Revoking photo access means you cannot attach photos to meals.
Password reset
You can reset your password at any time from the sign-in screen.
DejaFood is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
